Calabasas, CA Accreditation 1.0 CLE | September 27, 2019

California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) will go into effect on January 1, 2020, and amendments to the law are expected to be passed by September 13. This California law will impact all mid- to large sized companies that have either customers or employees in California. Heralded as the first-of-its-kind comprehensive data privacy law in the US, companies that are not compliant will face litigation and regulatory fines. This CLE will cover what companies can do now to prepare for this new law and how to calculate and remedy litigation and regulatory risks in this rapidly evolving and challenging privacy and cyber landscape.

Key issues to be covered:

  • CCPA's scope
  • Exemptions (GLBA, HIPAA, clinical trial, service providers, employees)
  • Top 10 checklist of activities companies need to complete before January 1
  • Private right of action under CCPA
  • Attorney General Enforcement Powers
  • How to future-proof your privacy program to meet new and emerging laws like the CCPA
